For many musicians there is almost nothing more important than the protection of their trumpets. Trumpets seem hard and sturdy which for the most part they are, but they can dent and get scratched and nobody wants a ruined horn. Unfortunately, they cannot always be kept away from potential dangers. Often, it is necessary for musicians to travel with their instruments. While a soft, padded gig bag might be sufficient for transporting an instrument from home to the practice space, a hard case is more protection and is generally needed when traveling with a piece of musical gear on a plane or train. There are many potentially hazardous situations involved in traveling with an instrument, which is why it is usually recommended that a piece of musical gear be packed inside  with an outside heavy-duty case such as the models made by our brands listed here, they all have nice plush interiors and tough outside shells.

Keeping Your Horn Safe

Brass instruments are just as susceptible to damage caused during transport as other instruments. These horns can easily be dinged and dented, so it is important to store them inside hard cases when taking them on a train, plane, or other mode of transportation. Our hard trumpet cases here for example can protect your instrument from an immense amount of force.

Heavy-duty cases for your trumpets can give you peace of mind, plus they are also able to give you much more storage space. Mouthpieces, lyres, cleaning supplies, and sheet music need not be stored elsewhere when a trumpet is stored in a quality hard case. Additionally, hard cases can be locked for extra security.

There are many more instruments that can benefit from the use of a hard case, such as one made by our brands listed here. Such cases protect musical instruments from the elements and from careless handling. Musicians depend on their instruments, and an investment in a hard case can help them avoid needless damage to the tools of their trade.

There are Different Types of Hard Cases you Might Want

Some of the top brands are Yamaha, Bach Stradivarius, Guardian, Gator, Andoer, SKB, Sky and more.

Highest Rated Reviews:

Probably the highest rated is the Guardian CW-041-TP.

Factors to Choosing:

You’re going to want to decide if you want a hard case or soft case, if you drop things or have a child that drops a lot I would go with the hard case.  There isn’t as much room in the hard case but you can get extra cheap bags or a back pack to solve the issue.  So really it’s up to deciding what you prefer.

Traveling a lot:

If you travel a lot with your instrument, you will probably want to look into a durable case, it gets thrown around a lot and you want to make sure it can take some abuse.   A lot of the ones listed above are nice because they’re fairly small and can be put into overhead compartments on airplanes.  They also fit in cars and vehicles pretty easy, so just something to think about.

trumpet case for traveling

Price:

These top 3 are all fairly close together in price.  They are great for a student and casual player, even some touring musicians use these.  If you have an extremely expensive Trumpet you might want a higher quality one, just for a some more room or extra extreme protection.  But for most people these work great and can be dropped and beat up pretty well.

Conclusion:

These are great if you need some solid protection for your trumpets, they are all durable and if you or your child is prone to dropping things or instruments, hard cases are a great option.   These three brands have great reputations and do a good job protecting your horn.

I like the Protec large bag myself, it’s worked pretty well. I came here looking for some good harder more durable options for my older trumpet though, these all look pretty good.
